I have an Epson XP-15000. I converted it to chipless last January, installing the NW07k7 firmware was recognized by WIC and displayed on Nozzle Check printouts. I added chipless carts with tanks & tubing. Things seemed fine until May, when the printer announced that the carts were empty. It asked for new carts. Replacing the chipless cars with Epson chipped carts did not satisfy it. Since then, I've tried reinstalling the chipless firmware, got to 99% and failed. Unplugging power, replugging & redoing install failed. I've tried calling for updating to regular Epson firmware, but Epson Software Updater says it's up to date, does nothing. Because of printer being in error: endless loop of asking for reseated or replaced carts, then failing to recognize carts and going back to asking, it won't print or escape to do anything else using its panel buttons. Accessing via the USB port, it won't print or do a nozzle check because of the error mode. Originally, I bought a no-expiration activation key and saved the Key, the Serial number string, and the ID Code. Now, trying to apply them in the License.exe window, they arent recognized. Now what? Is the printer bricked and I need to buy another?

Then the printer quit, display screen saying the M cart is empty, says that the carts are 312/312XL - which they aren't. Cart info displayed by EPSON Status Monitor says "Unknown" for all carts. I'm trying to use license.exe again. I saved the Serial & ID Code from before. I can't get license.exe to work, either with the saved Code of with a new one gotten from "Activate Online". What am I not remembering?

Ok. I launched license.exe, clicked "Activate online", new window asked for my Activation Key, found that in your email from back in early December (yes, off&on I've been at this that long), entered it, it filled in a new long string in the "Recovery Code" window, I clicked the "Recover" button, the printer woke up and the pc screen opened a new window that said to power off and back on the printer. Did that, the printer now seemed normal (no ERROR message). I opened the Maintenance menu on the printer, asked for a nozzle check and it printed that, saying the Firmware is 20.42.NW07K7 which is the XP-15000's correct chipless firmware. So, I seem to be set. Thanks!

I thought I did. I guess I need to go around the barn one more time to be sure. Thanks.

Epson XP-15000, just now converting to Chipless firmware. WIC Reset Utility | Report says Firmware Version: "NW07K7 07/07/2020" which is the correct XP-15000 Chipless file, and says Status: "ink out error". There are no other "errors" in the Wic | Reset display. Printer displays a Maintenance Error saying: "Ink Cartridge is not installed correctly"; Check Cartridge Codes produces message "Press cartridges down firmly". Pressing on each cartridge does nor result in any movement. Display then returns to the Error ".. not installed correctly". Display of ink levels has all channels empty. Removing the Black cart, it has ink on the bottom and there is ink on the area around the screen of the printer. Seems that something in the firmware is not working.
