poolhallrichard 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2012 My Epson PX720WD has locked up with an error message and refuses to recognise any cartridges - even genuine Epson ones. I have taken it to the repair centre who told me it was basically defunct since it is out of warranty but I refuse to accept that. The printer is only 15 months old, I use it sparingly and this is the first time I have changed the cartridges and have always used Genuine Epson cartridges. I can't believe that a printer can die on me with so little use. Both Epson and Amazon have basically told me to do one. The printer will accept the cartridges as they are inserted but then locks up as soon as you put in the last one - it doesn't matter what order you put them in. Does anyone know if there is any routine, firmware upgrade or software patch that can clear this problem and get the printer going again. Will an inkpad reset do the trick for a cartridge recognition problem?
John_Admin 388 Report post Posted December 9, 2012 Download, install and run the WIC Reset Utility. Connect printer to PC by USB cable only. Click on STATUS button and it will show you every ink cartrige current status. Give here screenshot then.
poolhallrichard 3 Report post Posted December 12, 2012 Thanks for the suggestion. I've downloaded the WIC Reset Utility but it won't link to my printer because when I turn on the printer, it whirrs for a short period and then shows the cartridge recognition error and won't show up on the printer list - even if I connect via USB. The printer will just not talk to the PC once it's in this Error Message state. See pics below.
