V2000 Service Tool

I have reached this board because my Canon iP4850 gives every indication of having hit the Waste Ink Counter limit problem. (I cannot see a Canon topic area, so apologies if I am posting in the wrong place). I am running XP Pro on an Intel PC.

I have a couple of questions about the V2000 service tool:-

1. Do I need to purchase reset keys in addition to the V2000 itself, or can I use it as it is to reset the WIP counter indefinitely?

2. Will the V2000 program continue to work if I make future changes to my PC hardware or software?
