WF3720 - Wrong ID Readed from the printer

Recommended Posts

Your welcome! I am glad it worked for you.  I wasn't about to have to pay Epson prices for new ink so had to figure it out!

Yeah they are crazy, especially considering that the color cartridges somehow end up empty after a couple hundred pages of only black and white. Was about to just throw it away and buy another brand.

I have an Epson WF-3720 printer.

The Firmware file contained in the zip file was FWF469TL.efu

The Firmware file listed with the Epson Firmware Updater was 30.68.CL2112, when it was finished it read ROM Version 30.74.CL27J9

I purchased the activation code for $35.

When I went to activate it online, I received a pop-up with "Wrong ID Readed from the printer!"

What is going on?

Hi,

I would like to request a refund for my purchase. I have unsuccessfully installed the CL2112.

When it starts up I get the replace black cartridge which is a non Epson cartridge.

I do not want the Chipless solution.

Your order ID: 17995625 from Oct 16, 2019.

I would like to just downgrade the firmware to where it will recognize the generic ink and be able to read the ink levels.

What product will do just that and what would be the process?

Thank you.

So what product do I use to restore to a previous working firmware that can check ink levels and not complain about non Epson cartridges?

I have not used the code.

I need to understand, so there is no utility that will install or has older firmware?

Your utility basically disables requiring chipped ink cartridges or looking for Epson branded cartridges?

How do I clear the Error on the cartridge that it needs to be replaced?

This is the same error I received when the Epson firmware was updated that started this whole issue!

Do I have to buy an Epson cartridge to clear it up and then it will work correctly?
