There is common problem for new Epson printers. After firmware update by internet - printer will not recognize NOT ORIGINAL cartridge chips. So if you use CISS or Refillable cartridges - you use not original chips. If you allow printer make firmware update from Epson server - you will get this problem. Printer cant see cartridges. The solution is - to make firmware DownGrade. You can do it by WIC utility. You can buy Firmware Key - here Please note that due to the technical constraints firmware update in normal operating mode is not possible if printer has any errors or ink cartridges is unrecognized or empty.

Are there any plans on chipless firmware for Epson WF-7820 WF-7840? This model replaced 7710-/7720 wide format printer here in the States. I have had the printer for about a week now and have been able to use refillable cartridges by placing the original epson chips on the empty cartridges. Any chipless firmware would be BIG for the sublimation and digital arts community.

Firmware downgrade on my WF-7210 fails. The printer always restarts in Recovery Mode. When I send the firmware under Fix Recovery Mode I get the message Recovery Mode NOT WRITABLE. What am I doing wrong? Or is the WIC utility not compatible anymore? The printer has firmware 10.43.SA19IB. Michael
