XP241 - Reading Failed - 1

Recommended Posts

This issue almost always means that chipless firmware has not been properly loaded to the printer. Try to update firmware again and check all messages that you get during update process in the application then restart the printer and check firmware vesion in the WIC. Also, in very rare cases problem can be in the usb module/cord/port.

If you have more then 30 printers installed on your PC - License utility will not communicate with printer.

Solution - delete installed printers, clear ports

Less then 30

Or clear all ports.

I have the same problem with my XP-240, it says Read failed -1. What can I do? I removed my installed printers, don't know how to clear my ports. But I have less than 30 printers...

Yes, I fixed it while uploading it in normal mode. One thing to mention is that, I didn't have to wait for it to finish 100%. As it came out as an error that the firmware wasn't installed properly.

I just used the activation tool and voila, my printer's good to go. Thanks for the help :D
